At the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2024 event in Barcelona, the Air Glass 3 smart glasses for augmented reality, looked amazingly like regular vision glasses. These glasses are similar to Google Glass, unlike Google Glass, Air Glass does not support a camera sensor, which eliminates privacy concerns.
The design of the glasses does not indicate that they are smart. You will not know they are Smart Glasses until after wearing them. These glasses are a prototype, which means they are not a finished product and are not currently available for sale. It is worth noting that Oppo launched previous versions of its augmented reality glasses, which explains the existence of a third generation of Air Glass glasses.
Artificial intelligence has become the basis of many new and existing technology products, often in the form of AI-powered digital assistants such as ChatGPT and Copilot. Oppo will support its glasses with a large language model called AndesGPT.
The glasses can handle specific tasks such as searching for information and preparing a trip plan, although the language model will not be built into the glasses themselves, but will be available through the AndesGPT app.
The glasses support microphones and speakers so that the user can interact with them, and display content via a MicroLED display device that supports a brightness of 1000 lumens. Eyeglass lenses support a refractive index of 1.70 instead of 1.50, which reduces the rainbow effect when external light reflects on them.
The glasses currently support making voice calls, listening to music, and browsing, and Oppo is working on supporting future versions with new features such as teleprompter, navigation, timer, translation, and health and fitness.
Oppo did not mention any details about when the Air Glass 3 will be released, but it will require a smartphone that supports the AndesGPT application to be able to work with all its features.
