As the world celebrates women’s strength, resilience and achievements this year, as a woman, you ought to celebrate ‘you’ too. Because let’s be real, you do so much. From careers to family, and personal growth. The list is endless.

If you don’t know where to begin and how to, we have got you covered. Below is a list of the many ways you can take a moment to breathe, layback and appreciate your hard work. You deserve it.

Pamper yourself with a Spa Day

Selfcare is not selfish. Never forget that. Even without a ‘fat’ bank cheque, you can turn your home into a spa and give yourself the self-care treatment you deserve. All you have to do is light some scented candles and enjoy a warm bubble bath with a rejuvenating body scrub.

Go ahead and refresh that beautiful face with a facial mask that suits your skin type. You can use simple products like ‘papaya’ and honey from your kitchen–for you can never go wrong with natural products. Follow it up with a DIY mani/Pedi. Nothing says ‘I love myself’ like freshly done nails and glowing skin.

Your hair too deserves some love! It can be a deep conditioning hair treatment or a new hairstyle. Switching up your hair can make you feel like a whole new person—and that’s a great way to go through Women’s Month with renewed confidence. Walk into ‘Zuri’ Kigali this women’s day and treat yourself to the best authentic hair pieces in town. The icing on top is that with every purchase above 250,000Rwf, you get a free Zuri colorpop Palette.

And if you want to go all out with a ‘real’ spa day, Muci Beauty Bar at Marriott Hotel is having a huge discount for the ladies. Special packages go for 45,000Rwf, 57,000Rwf and 57,000Rwf. These include jelly pedicure, basic manicure and make-up, full pedicure, gel manicure and wash and set and jelly pedicure, basic manicure, eyebrow, underarm and Brazilian waxing respectively.

    Indulge in Your Favorite Foods

They said, ‘the way to a man’s heart is through the stomach.’ But they never said the same can’t apply to a woman. Food is love. On this day, treat yourself to that meal you’ve been craving–you can prepare it yourself from scratch or order take out. Pair it with a nice drink (wine, tea or freshly made juice) and take your time savoring every bite.

Cuddle Up with a Good Book or Movie

Sometimes, pampering yourself means escaping into a good story. Grab a book you’ve been meaning to read—whether it’s fiction, self-growth, or something totally random—and let yourself get lost in it. Not into reading? Binge-watch your favorite show (A new season of Beauty in Black is out) or watch a feel-good movie with some snacks and a cozy blanket. It’s your day to unwind however you want.

Treat Yourself with a Special Gift

Whether it’s something small or a big splurge, celebrating yourself with a meaningful purchase can feel incredibly rewarding. UZURI K&Y is honoring IWD (International Women’s Day) with a variety of gift options for you and your female besties. Options include a corporate package–curated to honor and empower the women on your team, personalized women gift cards and women’s day merchandise (T-shirts, notebook, key holders and fresh flowers).

    Women’s Day Party

Crown the day with a ‘Women’s day party’ at BICU Lounge in Kimihurura with your girlfriends. Groups of two get to have the main course, dessert and a glass of wine at only 50,000 Rwf. While that of four is treated to a platter, dessert and a half litre cocktail jug, all for 92,000 Rwf.

As if that’s not enough, you will get to groove to DJ Alida’s electric music, play games and get yourself freshly picked flowers.

    Women’s Day Art Night

If ‘art’ is your cup of tea, PINCELADA in Kicukiro, Niboye is the place to be. There, you will get to ‘sip’ your favorite cocktails and mocktails as you ‘shine’ those canvases with guided painting sessions. Plus, lively beats and soulful melodies will be in place to transport you on a journey of connecting and bonding with other attendees. To be a part of this fun, secure your pass for 15,000Rwf as spots are limited.

    Activism and Fun

Step back into the month’s purpose–activism by supporting women creatives achieve equality. Lespace Kigali, in partnership with Writer’s Space Africa (WSA) and BICU Lounge have organized an exhibition aimed at that. Themed, ‘Accelerating equality for women’s equality in the creative industry’, HERHEART unleashed will take place on March 9 from 3pm to 6pm. Entrance is free, yet you get to relish the entire exhibition, creative talks and performances from Kigali’s best female artists.

    Women Empowerment

The beauty about Women’s Day celebrations is that they run throughout the month. On 15th March, all female entrepreneurs will be under one roof–showcasing their products, networking and thriving, courtesy of Wester well Startup House Kigali and JASIRI. What better way to celebrate and empower fellow women than attending ‘Femme Fair’?
