According to Times Now, a source familiar with the situation claims that Kylian Mbappé has told Paris Saint-Germain that he would be leaving the team at the end of the current season.
The person, who requested to remain anonymous since Mbappé has not officially announced his decision, stated that on Thursday, the French footballer told PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he would be leaving the team when his contract ends.
With the end of the current season, Mbappé, who has spent seven years with PSG, will become a free agent. There has been constant speculation that he would join Real Madrid.
Last year, the international player for France informed the team that he would not be signing a contract extension until 2021.
Madrid seems to be Mbappé’s most likely destination, but it’s anticipated that many other teams will become interested in him after he departs from PSG, potentially sparking a bidding war. After reportedly signing a $190 million contract with Monaco, Mbappé joined PSG in 2017.
Even if he takes home the championship trophy in European club soccer this year, he may still have a happy retirement. He scored on Wednesday in PSG’s 2-0 first-leg round of 16 triumphs over Real Sociedad.
Mbappé ends a lengthy tale that has shadowed his final season with the squad with his choice. Following the exits of Messi and Neymar in the preceding 12 months, PSG has already begun to redirect its attention.
French soccer is dominated by PSG, which has been owned by Qatar Sports Investments since 2011. Its lineup includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, and Messi. However, after obtaining Randal Kolo Muani in the previous year, it has begun to depart from that framework.
Mbappé has long been seen as Karim Benzema’s replacement at Real Madrid since the former left to join Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia last year.
