Rwandan RNB star Benjamin Mugisha, popularly known as The Ben, has been confirmed as one of the East African musicians to perform at the Colors of the East festival next month at the Capital One Arena, Washington DC.
This was confirmed by New York-based event production and promotion company, Duke Concept, which also announced other East African stars who will share the stage with the Rwandan singer.
The line-up for the one-day indoor festival includes performances by Tanzanian bongo flava star Diamond Platnumz, Ethiopian hip-hop act Lij Mic, Congolese rapper Innoss’B and Kenyan R&B singer Otile Brown.
Also taking to the stage will be Somali singer Suldaan Seeraar, South Sudanese act John Frog, Ugandan genre blender Joshua Baraka, Zambian act OC Osilliation, Tanzanian singer Nandy and more.
It will be Rwanda’s debut on the Capital One Arena stage since no other Rwandan musician has ever performed at the venue that usually attracts thousands of Afro-music fans and some of the notorious musicians on the African continent.

The Ben’s Colors Festival performance follows some of his massive events since he ventured into the music industry, such as the two Bujumbura concerts worth $35,000 (over 40 million Rwandan francs), the Kampala show and many others.
The Ben is one of the best musicians to come out of Rwanda with more popularity on the African continent with hits like ‘Why’ featuring Diamond Platnumz, ‘Habibi’, ‘Vazi’ and ‘Fine Girl’ produced by Krizbeatz, among others.
Colors of the East is the latest festival to be added to Duke Concept’s 2024 calendar. Launched in 2011, the event production company has showcased top African and Caribbean artists, including Afrobeats stars such as Burna Boy, Davido, Fireboy DML and Wizkid.
The festival will be the latest Duke Concept event to land in the Washington metropolitan area following the inaugural Rolling Cocoa festival, which focused on promoting Ghanaian music and culture, on 9 March.
