The Africa Tourism Partners has announced the launch of the 6th Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge for 2024, inviting young people in Africa up to the age of 35 to participate. The challenge is a platform for innovative African youth in the travel and tourism industry to seek funding, partnerships, and mentorship for their projects. The portal for entries will open on November 1, 2023, and close on March 1, 2024.
The winner of the challenge will receive a grant in cash and in-kind, valued at USD 10,000, with additional cash support for their project. The first and second runners-up will also receive grant support and cash for their projects. Participants can benefit from short courses provided by UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization), mentorship, partnership opportunities, potential funding support, and career prospects. They will also have the chance to join a network of African youth Tourism Mentors and Innovators.
The 2024 Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit, where the challenge takes place, is scheduled for May 28-31 in Windhoek, Namibia, hosted by the government of Namibia through the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism. The summit will bring together over 700 participants, including youth in tourism, industry thought leaders, policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders. The program includes various activities such as entrepreneurship masterclasses, B2B sessions, exhibitions, and more.
