It could be a smooth glass of white or red wine or perhaps a clean shot of golden whisky, a drink usually associated with men. The choice she makes sets an impression that hangs in the air, giving everyone an idea of who she might be.
A drink you carry as a lady in a bar or a club speaks volumes about who you are, at least to strangers. Stereotypes have it that whisky-drinking ladies are independent, opinionated, you know, the no-nonsense women. On the other hand, wine-savouring women. They are perceived to be classy and elegant.
Which one are you? How true are these stereotypes? SENS spoke to the bar-mongering ladies to find out. “What it is like to be a whiskey woman? “or “a vineyard muse? “
Wine girls: Is it true that wine ladies often feel like Beyoncé when they’re sipping from those fancy elegant tall glasses?
One wine enthusiast said ‘Check it, when a lady is holding her wine glass, it’s like she’s got some bougie vibes going on.’ Then he goes, ‘ Knowing about the different types of wine, where they’re from, and how they age? That’s like next-level cool and interesting.’
When people see a girl sipping wine, they’re like, ‘Dang, she’s classy, stylish, and knows her stuff when it comes to the good things in life .’ It kinda of makes sense, right? Soft lights, good wine, it’s the whole vibe.”
“Wine girls don’t drink just to get wasted’’, says Daniel. They sip wine to spark conversation. The way she handles her glass, sways it, smells the wine, and takes une petite gorgee, tells whether she knows what she is doing or not. So, if you’re clueless about talking to the girl you’re into, here’s a tip: book a table at a restaurant, bring a bottle of wine, and let the hours and chemistry do the rest.
Whiskey girls: Is it true that a whiskey-drinking woman can’t stick to a list of someone else’s creations to define her?
Normally When someone orders a neat whisky, it’s like saying, “I’m confident and doing my own thing.” For girls, it’s breaking old rules about who drinks what. So, when a woman orders a strong whisky, it shows she’s not afraid to enjoy something bold. Kelly says,
“Yeah, I’m a whiskey babe. Some people see me as wild and daring, which I am, but it’s annoying when they judge me for my drink choice. Not cool.” When a girl orders a hardcore drink like whisky, some might think she’s ignoring tradition (yataye umuco ) or playing games. They might miss out on getting to know her personality.
When I order a whiskey on a night out, I get questions like: “Do you drink that?” and lectures about how a classy lady like me shouldn’t be sipping whisky in public.
There is always a Brian or Frank at the bar counter who side-eyes you and asks if you enjoy the taste of your drink. There are those guys on the prowl for a one-night stand, trying to butter you up by saying how unique and sexy it is that you’re sipping whiskey. Like, come on, dude, did you just learn three French words to impress a girl at a bar? “It’s so cool to see a chick ordering whiskey,” they’ll say. Really? Give us a break.
When you first meet someone, whether they’re sipping wine or whiskey, it might give you an idea about them, but it’s important to know that these impressions are mere stereotypes. True connections happen when we look beyond the surface and appreciate each person’s uniqueness, no matter what they’re drinking.
So, if you see a girl with a drink, don’t judge too quickly – there’s more to their story than just their drink choice.
