President Paul Kagame, the esteemed leader of the Republic of Rwanda, graced a pivotal event that showcased Africa’s thriving tech and startup ecosystem, bringing together prominent investors, startups, and industry leaders.
On the 8th of November, an astounding assembly of over 1000 investors, business delegates, and entrepreneurs congregated for the inauguration of Norrsken Africa Week in the district of Nyarugenge, Kigali, Rwanda.
During his address, President Paul Kagame highlighted one of the most remarkable achievements of the Government of Rwanda: the transformation of the Rwandan mindset from dependency to self-reliance, fostering collaborative partnerships built on dignity. He emphasized the importance of self-initiative, noting that success and progress are endeavors to be pursued without expecting handouts.
He clearly stated, ‘The journey toward dignified self-reliance should not be a plea for assistance from others. In reality, no one owes you anything. As Africans, we owe it to ourselves to elevate our status and engage with others as equals.’
Hon. Paula Musoni pointed out, ‘We are a living testament to the potential of African innovators, and this firmly establishes Rwanda as a central hub for innovation across the continent. Norrsken’s expansion into Africa in 2019 was driven by the ambition to create the most substantial entrepreneurial hub on the African landscape.’
Pascal Murasira, the Managing Director of Norrsken East Africa, emphasized the three key pillars of their support for founders: providing infrastructure and space, facilitating networking opportunities like the Norrsken Africa Week, and channeling capital into Africa.
Their mission, he affirmed, is to infuse capital into the African startup ecosystem. Presently, 1200 individuals have found their entrepreneurial home at Norrsken House.https://x.com/urugwirovillage/status/1722293537008480539?s=46
