Bridal Shower, Bachelorette Party, I am confused!
The journey to the wedding day is not just about choosing the dress and the venue; it’s also filled with various celebrations leading up to the big moment. Bridesmaids, bridal showers, bachelorette parties the terminology can be confusing.
I grew up with the idea of bridesmaids invading weddings and sometimes stealing the spotlight from the bride, often just to follow the trend without a perfect understanding of what bridesmaids entail. In recent years, the bridal shower has also found its place. I thought I understood it all, but now the bachelorette party is gradually making its way into the world of celebrations in honor of the bride before the big day.
Are they different parties?

A bridal shower is a daytime event where loved ones gather to shower the bride with gifts, typically focused on her new home and life as a married woman. Bridal showers are meant to prepare the bride-to-be for her future life as a married woman
On the other hand, a bachelorette party is all about letting loose and having a fabulous time with your girlfriends before the wedding day. The bachelorette party is meant for the bride to de-stress, celebrate, and enjoy her present pre-married life.
Which comes first bachelorette or bridal shower?
Typically, the Bachelorette party would occur a few months before your wedding day. If you’re being whisked away for a weekend or weeklong getaway, you might decide to host it even further ahead of your big day. Bridal showers happen much closer to the big day often only a few weeks beforehand.
What kind of parties should they be?
The Bridal Shower can take the form of a lunch, brunch, afternoon tea, dinner, or an evening event, depending on the bride’s preferences. Unlike the Bachelorette Party, the focus is not so much on bidding farewell to single life in a wild or racy manner but rather on pampering the bride-to-be.
What attire is suitable for the bride during the events?
For both occasions, the choice of attire is influenced by factors such as the venue, the season, any specified dress code, and the planned activities. Traditionally, at the bridal shower, many brides opt for a white look, whether it be a dress or a jumpsuit.

Similarly, for the bachelorette party, the bride often leans towards white attire, but the evening atmosphere allows for more daring looks. Sequined mini dresses or feather-trimmed wrap dresses are encouraged for a stylish and nighttime celebration.

The attire for both events can be curated based on personal style preferences, ensuring the bride shines throughout the pre-wedding festivities.
When the time comes, I hope you will be ready for the distinctive tunes of your pre-wedding festivities.
