Mastering the ‘No-Makeup’ Makeup Look in 10 Steps: Her Majesty’s Style

In a sit-down with Her Majesty’s makeup artist Milly, about the kind of makeup to wear this summer, the MUA alluded to the need to feel light and breezy in the hot weather. Her recommendation: The no-makeup makeup look.

“Creating a no-makeup makeup look is practically an art form,” Milly says, “It’s perfect for sunny days when you want to feel fresh and radiant without looking overdone.”

This style is about achieving an easy, quick, and simple look that still makes you feel pretty and alive.

Want to give it a try?

Milly explains, “The challenge lies in appearing fresh-faced and natural while using a range of products like foundation, concealer, and blush to perfect your look. It’s simple and effortless—all you need are the right products.”

Since the no-makeup makeup trend is always popular, it’s a great skill to master. Milly shares an easy tutorial with all the skincare and beauty products you need to achieve the look at home.

Moisturize and Apply SPF First things first: a luminous complexion starts with how you prep your skin, and a good skincare routine is essential. Begin with a gentle cleanser to wash away any impurities. Next, use a lightweight moisturizer with SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Tip: A hydrated body is a happy body. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin naturally radiant.

Even Out Your Skin Tone After your skin is ready, apply a makeup primer to create a smooth base for your foundation. For a glowing look, skip the heavy foundation and choose something lighter, like a tinted moisturiser or BB cream. These give enough coverage to even out your skin tone while still looking natural.

Apply with your fingers or a damp sponge for a seamless finish. If you need a recommendation, we love the Her Majesty Pure Balance Primer.

Tip: Choose a formula with SPF for added sun protection.

Foundation The next step is foundation, but it’s not necessary for the no-makeup makeup look. The goal is to let your skin breathe. You don’t need too many layers.

However, if you love foundation and can’t go out without it, try the Eternal Matte Blend Foundation from Her Majesty. It’s light on the skin and lasts all day long.

Conceal Sparingly Use concealer, but only where you need it. With Her Majesty’s Sculpting Concealer, apply under the eyes, around the nose, and on any blemishes. Gently pat it in with your fingers to blend it perfectly into your skin.

Tip: A brightening concealer can make you look more awake and fresher.

Subtle Glow Just because you’re going for a no-makeup makeup look doesn’t mean your face has to look flat. Use a matte bronzer like Sculpt Bronzer on the hollows of your cheeks, along the outer edge of your jawline and forehead, and on the sides of your nose.

For a natural, sun-kissed look, apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. Cream formulas blend into your skin and look more natural than powders. For perfectly pinched cheeks, try Her Majesty Cheeky Charm Blusher or Rose Citrus Cream Blush.

Tip: Dab a little on your nose and forehead for a just-back-from-the beach vibe.

Pressed powder Don’t forget about pressed powder! It’s like a soft, velvety hug for your skin. It rids off shine and makes your face look smooth and flawless, like those fancy filters on social media but in real life. Might we suggest Her Majesty Truffle Dust Pressed Powder? It’s a solid choice!

Natural Brows Keep your brows looking natural by filling in sparse areas with a brow pencil or powder that matches your hair colour. To stay true to the natural look, brush them up and out with a little grooming gel to keep them in place.

For more definition, use the high-quality Her Majesty Honeyed Arches Eyebrow Gel.

Tip: If your brows are already full, a clear brow gel might be all you need.

Bright Eyes If you want to include eyeshadow in your no-makeup makeup routine, choose Nude matte shades like those in the Her Majesty Opal Aura Eye shadow Palette.

Skip heavy eyeshadow and liner. Instead, curl your lashes and apply a coat or two of waterproof mascara, like Her Majesty Twinkle & Lengthen, to define your eyes without weighing them down.

Apply a nude or light brown eyeliner on your waterline for more definition.

Tip: For an extra pop, add a touch of highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes.

Luminous Lips Finish off with a tinted lip balm or a gloss like Her Majesty Lip Hue. These keep your lips hydrated and add a hint of colour without being too bold. Think soft pinks, corals, or a clear gloss for a swift shine.

Tip: Match your lip color to your blush for a harmonious look.

Set It Forget It To keep your makeup looking fresh all day, use a setting spray. Pick one with a dewy finish like Her Majesty Charm Setting Spray. This will help your makeup stay in place and maintain that glowing look. You don’t want your makeup to move throughout the day.
