Presidential Race Update
The provisional list of presidential and parliamentary candidates for the upcoming elections in Rwanda has been unveiled. Only three out of nine potential presidential candidates met the legal requirements. President Paul Kagame, candidate of the ruling Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF Inkotanyi), Frank Habineza of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, and independent aspirant Philippe Mpayimana made it to the preliminary list.
However, hopefuls with incomplete documentation have until June 14 to submit the required materials before the final candidate roster is made public.

Kigali Peace Marathon 2024 Kenyans dominate
The 19th edition of the Kigali International Peace Marathon showcased an impressive display of athleticism, with Kenyan runners dominating the run. Kenya’s Laban Korir claimed victory in the men’s full marathon, while Joan Kipyatich secured the top spot in the women’s marathon.
Additionally, Kenyan athletes Langat Francis and Moseti Winfrida triumphed in the men’s and women’s half-marathons, respectively. Rwandan runners Emmanuel Mutabazi and Emeline Imanizabayo clinched bronze medals in their respective categories. The event attracted over 10,000 participants from 35 countries, cementing its international significance as a platform for promoting peace and athleticism.
Music: Zeo Trap’s diss track gets him in trouble with RIB
In music, an intense beef has emerged between underground rappers Zeo Trap and Hollix. The exchange of diss tracks and heated exchanges on social media has drawn considerable attention. Zeo Trap’s latest track, “Sinabyaye,” directed at Hollix and Ish Kevin, has sparked controversy due to its explicit content and abrasive insults.
As the feud gained traction online, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) intervened, urging Zeo Trap to remove the contentious song from all platforms. Following this, Hollix confirmed that his response track to the same feud, “Faranswa,” was similarly taken down. The involvement of government agencies in the music industry has become a point of debate, with RIB emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy toward inappropriate language in music.
