Slated to take place from 24th May to 1st June 2024 at BK Arena in Kigali, the Basketball Africa League (BAL) fourth season is to serve the game fanatics more than just sports.
Right from the opening ceremony to the close-offs, a lineup of artists, including Nigeria’s Gold Adekunle have been curated to keep the attendees entertained whilst cheering on their favourite teams.
Adekunle, well known for his tracks; ‘Sade’ and ‘It Is What It Is’, and who previously performed in Rwanda in 2021, is set to perform on Friday, May 24th at the half-time of the second game as Egypt’s Al Ahyl SC faces FUS Rabat from Morocco.
Earlier that day, attendees will twirl to Rwanda’s Inganzo Ngari and Juno Kigenza’s music collection during the opening ceremony and game one first half-time performances, respectively, while Libya’s Al Ahyl Ly battles South Africa’s Cape Town Tigers.
In the days that will follow, entertainment will be served by: Bwiza and Kenny Sol, Alyn Sano and Chriss Eazy, Ish Kevin, Kivumbi King and Kevin Kade, and Ariel Wayz, in that order, until The Ben alongside the Rwanda National Ballet and Hip Hop crew wrap up the season’s finale on June 1st, 2024.
Additionally, enthusiasts in the fan zone will rhyme and whirl to spins from DJ Kim, Arena DJ, Hottempah Collective, and Ishami Talent.
The Basketball Africa League is Africa’s first continental basketball league, inaugurated in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic delay.
This year, as the fourth season rounds off, eight teams: Al Ahly SC-Egypt, FUS Rabat-Morocco, Rivers Hoopers-Nigeria, AS Douanes-Senegal, Petro de Luanda-Angola, US Monastir-Tunisia, Al Ahly Ly-Libya, and Cape Town Tigers from South Africa, all selected from the recently concluded conference games that took place in Pretoria-South Africa, Nile Conference in Cairo-Egypt and the Sahara Conference in Dakar will contend for the season’s championship in twelve final games played at BK Arena in Kigali.
Speaking to SENS‘ Heritier Bahizi, Amadou Gallo Fall, BAL President, remarked, “We are excited to welcome dedicated fans and guests to Kigali, Rwanda for the fourth consecutive BAL playoffs and Finals.”
He further encouraged fans from across the continent and the diaspora to be a part of this sports milestone by purchasing tickets to the games both online at BAL.NBA.com and www.ticqet.rw or at designated stores.
According to sources from BAL, tickets go for as low as 2,500 Rwf for games on the 24th and 25th of May, and 1,600 Rwf for the quarter-finals and semi-finals on the 26th to 29th of May 2024.
