Also known as the Met Ball, the Met Gala is one of the most anticipated events in the fashion world, and this year’s edition did not disappoint. Hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the gala saw celebrities, designers, and fashion enthusiasts come together to celebrate the opening of the annual fashion exhibit.
For SENS, these stars stole the spotlight with their stunning outfits, leaving our jaws dropped both in awe of their creativity and efforts in pulling out the theme of the year: ‘The Garden of Time’.
Zendaya, the American actress and singer, was our red carpet-favourite for the night. Primarily, we loved everything about this gown, from the colour choice to the silhouette and, of course, the fashion-forward accuracy with the theme.
Gigi Hadid: In her ‘love at first sight’ gown, Gigi left us feeling some type of way. White is one of those colours that many shy away from when it comes to red carpets, which was so bold of her. Not to mention the simplicity it retained even when it corresponded with the theme. We loved it then and still love it now.

Kim Kardashian. We know her for constantly pushing the boundaries of fashion. This time round, she failed at that, opting for simplicity. Nevertheless, she was able to combine ‘sleeping beauty’ – the institute exhibition’s title – with the evening’s theme in her outfit.

Nicki Minaj, the rapper, had our heads turn for a moment with her bold choice of attire. The vibrant yellow and intricate embellishments not only depict the theme of the evening but also exude glamour and confidence.

Sara Jessica Parker, a fashion icon in her own right, wowed us with her ensemble. Embracing the theme, her intricate dress featuring floral motifs and delicate embroidery screamed nothing but class.

Demi Moore also made a statement with her outfit choice. Her understated yet sophisticated look made it easy for those hearing about the Met Gala for the first time to know what it’s all about – unique costumes.

Bad Bunny: What’s not there to like about this look honestly? From head to toe, the reggaeton star understood the assignment. And for us, he ate.

Hannah Bagshawe and Eddie Redmayne: At SENS, we love ‘love.’ Show us a happy couple, and we will give you anything. This one here, even if they had rocked the red carpet naked, trust us, they would make it to our A list for the best dressed. Back to the Met Gala, don’t their outfits make you want to hop into bed? They definitely pulled off the ‘sleeping beauty’ part.

Alton Mason: Men’s outfits at the Met are usually very predictable. This year’s Jeff Goldblum, Donald Glover, Wisdom Kaye and more surpassed our expectations. But our winner is Mason, for gracing the night and for the trail that depicts a blanket-again, sleeping beauty as part of the theme.

Aurora James:Dressed in Ana Khouri, James did not disappoint us. She effortlessly glammed her look. If only she visited the salon before, that would have been an extra, but who knows, maybe it was also part of the costume.

Now onto the Met Gala “outfit snobs.” Sometimes invitees don’t get it quite right. This year’s event was no exception, with some A-listers missing the mark and leaving us scratching our heads. Let’s look at the 10 worst looks that got everyone talking.

Emily Ratajkowski: You know, the theme was “The Garden of Time”, not “Free the Nipple.” But Emily showed up at the Met Gala wearing hardly anything at all!

Lily Gladstone: Gladstone, we’re not feeling inspired by this. The design lacks excitement and doesn’t catch the eye. It might fit her usual style, but it’s a lazy approach for the Met Gala. This event is a chance to stand out and send a bold message, but this design didn’t make much of an impact.

Kylie Jenner: At this year’s Met Gala, Kylie, who usually wears daring and exciting outfits, didn’t impress with her dress. It was plain and lacked the usual excitement, with only a few nice touches. This was a change from her usual bold style and made her fall short of being seen as a fashion icon. Her outfit seemed more like something you’d find in a wedding dress store, which was quite honestly, lackluster.

Doja Cat: I mean, it’s Doja. That’s all we’re gonna say.

Sofia Coppola: While some stars wore extravagant outfits, Sofia lacked out by wearing a the most basic Chanel preppy look. Her outfit left us wondering if this was indeed fashion’s prom night or a parliament gathering.

Amelia Gray: We know it’s a “costume” gala, but this took it too literally. Amelia’s attendee arrived in what can only be described as a giant bouquet suit. Was it a great choice or a bit too much? We’ll leave that to you to decide.

Adwoa Aboah: Look, we get it; Rihanna pushed boundaries with her stunning pregnancy looks, but if we’re being honest, not everyone can successfully pull that off. If you don’t believe us, here’s a photo of Adwoa at the Met Gala that is a classic representation of our assertion.

Alexandra Michler Kopelman: Who needs a fancy dress when you can wear a shiny bedsheet? Alexandra chose comfort over fancy clothes and ended up looking like she got caught in a disco ball on her way in. Well, at least they’ll be comfy during the after-party!

Elizabeth Debicki: Did they run out of time or ideas? Elizabeth showed up in what looked like a homemade project that didn’t turn out well. Glue guns and glitter can’t make a good dress!

Jennie Kim: It’s as if Jennie Kim picked out her outfit with her eyes closed! One person seemed to have grabbed whatever they could reach in the costume section and she threw it on happily.
