<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nEach event, whether featuring myself or other artists, will be a different volume\u2014just like adjusting the sound level. For music events, we\u2019re calling it Volume,\u201d Andersonne explained in an interview with SENS Magazine after her performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond her live renditions, with \u201cDizzy\u201d being a standout, Andersonne invited the audience to participate in the experience. She encouraged them to contribute a word or theme, even some backing lyrics, which she then wove into a spontaneous creation, turning it into what could only be described as a collaborative song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This all made sense because the audience, though small, arrived on time\u2014a rarity in Kigali these days. The show was set to start at 7 p.m., and by then, the music was already in full swing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Uwineza mentioned that she\u2019s developing a new podcast as part of the Andersonne Experience titled \u201cThe Andersonne Experiment\u201d. Observing that children frequently attend her events, she plans to create a dedicated space for them. This will be a fun and engaging environment where they can enjoy storytelling, games, and singing. It\u2019s amusing that regardless of how late her events run\u2014sometimes even past midnight\u2014children are always present. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Other performances included Andersonne\u2019s backup singers, Kelly and Collin, delivering captivating renditions of \u201cRiver\u201d by Leon Bridges, \u201cGenda Rwanda uri Nziza,\u201d and more. Speaking about her backup singers, Andersonne said, \u201cCollin and Kelly are, in my opinion, among the best vocalists I know, and they happen to be my friends. I don\u2019t see them as just background vocalists. I want the audience to experience the great artists they can become.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe more Volume grows, the more I\u2019m exploring different ways for artists to collaborate\u2014not just offstage, but on stage as well. Is it even possible? That\u2019s what I\u2019m experimenting with, alongside the amazing Kelly and Collin.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Andersonne also highlighted her band setup for the event: \u201cUsually, I perform with a three-piece band, but for this space, two musicians were the perfect fit. I had Fran\u00e7ois on the keys\u2014he\u2019s incredibly talented\u2014and Sam, who just graduated from Nyundo Art School. The musicians coming out of that school are amazing, and I\u2019m eager to collaborate with them, to understand their preferences and see how we can grow together.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n When asked about the challenges of planning events and how things have progressed, she said, \u201cHonestly, it\u2019s tougher now. I\u2019m handling both the production and performance, which has been a real eye-opener. I\u2019ve realized that artists shouldn\u2019t be juggling these roles. We need producers, managers, A&Rs\u2014people who can handle the logistics so we can focus on the art. But since I don\u2019t have that support yet, I\u2019m working with spaces like L\u2019Espace, who have been incredibly supportive in helping me explore the potential of Volume. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut it\u2019s hard, I won\u2019t sugarcoat it. Balancing production and performing is unrealistic\u2014it\u2019s a lot to handle.\u201d She added, \u201cThere\u2019s always this expectation for us to keep creating. Now, I truly understand what it takes to build something like this, whether it\u2019s an intimate show for ten people or 100.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n As for what\u2019s next, she shared, \u201cI\u2019m heading back to the studio to create an album. That\u2019s my focus now\u2014getting back to what I love. All these songs I\u2019ve been performing, I haven\u2019t released most of them. I\u2019ve only put out five songs so far, but on stage, I\u2019m performing at least 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s clear that I need to record more, so the next big step is the album. And, of course, I\u2019ll keep surprising people\u2014I\u2019m a teacher at heart, always finding creative ways to inspire others to try new and creative things.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n One thing is clear: Andersonne has mastered the performance aspect, having hosted notable artists like Ariel Wayz, Sema Sole, and ET, as well as her mini experiences. Her ability to offer fans an up-close look at their favorite artists is impressive.
