Originating from a meme shared on 4Chan, an anonymous English-language imageboard website in May 2021, the concept is straightforward yet engaging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original post instructed users to\u00a0“Look between t and o on your keyboard”\u00a0(sic), revealing the hidden message\u00a0“Yui,”\u00a0a character from the anime series K-On. Since then, this meme has evolved into what is known as a snowclone, providing a template for humorous variations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past 24 hours, social media users have embraced this format to uncover hidden meanings within characters, celebrities, or public figures’\u00a0names. However, the trend has also taken a playful and sometimes bewildering turn, with Rwandan users\u2014both individuals and corporations\u2014creating quirky conversations or playfully trolling others online by prompting them to decode nonsensical messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Various corporate accounts have joined the trend, using clever keyboard prompts to engage with their audience. For instance, the\u00a0e-commerce platform\u00a0Vuba Vuba<\/a>\u00a0prompted users to\u00a0“Look in between Y and I on your keyboards”\u00a0to recognize\u00a0customers’\u00a0value\u00a0alleging\u00a0they\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0live without them, which\u00a0I guess\u00a0is true.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CIMERWA, a cement manufacturer, injected humor into the trend by prompting users to\u00a0“Look between J and L on your keyboard,<\/a>”\u00a0where the letters JK signify\u00a0“Just Kidding.”\u00a0In their post, Rwandans playfully jest about desiring another cement manufacturer competitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Telecom operator MTN Rwanda capitalized on the trend to announce recruitment, directing users to\u00a0“Look between X and B on your keyboard.” This call to action invited users to submit their CVs for job applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SteelRwa utilized the trend, humorously emphasizing the strength of its steel products. The post featured a scenario: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her: “You thought you hurt me but you forgot my heart is made of steel”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Him:\u00a0“Look between J and L on your keyboard.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While not all interpretations of this trend may leave some users confused or annoyed, other posts are genuinely educational or humorous. For example, roxie_ug shared a meme where Jesus tells a blind man to “Look between X and V on your keyboard,” which humorously references the act of seeing (represented by the letter “C” between “X” and “V”).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another post educates about the dangers of smoking during pregnancy. In the meme, a child born after their mother smoked\u00a0is referred\u00a0to as\u00a0“U” or\u00a0“you,”\u00a0continuing the same trend years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
