Tour Du Rwanda, the annual national cycling championship covering the entire country in 8 thrilling stages, is back for its 16th edition. But this year, there’s a twist \u2013 each final stage will be accompanied by a lively musical festival featuring Rwanda’s top artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From February 18th to the 25th, Tour Du Rwanda will once again showcase Africa’s growing cycling talent with a UCI 2.1 level competition, attracting 20 teams from around the world. And when the cyclists reach the finish line, the party begins with performances by renowned artists like Juno Kizigenza, Bwiza, Kennysol, Bushali, Senderi, Danny Vumbi, Afrique, Mico, and Niyo Bosco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SENS learned that since Tour Du Rwanda’s elevation to a UCI 2.1 event, Rwandan teams have faced tough competition, dampening local enthusiasm. However, the addition of the festival aims to reignite public interest and create a vibrant atmosphere along the race route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FERWACY Secretary General Arlette Ruyonza, stressed on the importance of a large crowd at the end point of each stage. Entertainment, particularly music, has become a rapidly growing industry in Rwanda, capturing the attention of both local and international audiences. The Tour Du Rwanda Festival leverages this popularity to draw crowds. It not only pleases organizers but also attracts international media coverage, shining a spotlight on the championship’s magnitude. Sponsors benefit too, with their branded vehicles capturing the attention of the crowd and ensuring brand visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While some sport analysts speculate that the festival is a response to dwindling Rwandan victories in the tournament, others see it as simply enhancing the overall experience for spectators.
